Dr. Laura Bruckman is Director
of MDS-Rely and the Associate
Professor of Materials Science
and Engineering at Case
Western Reserve University.
She holds a BS in Chemistry
from
the
University
of
Michigan-Flint and a PhD in
Analy琀椀cal Chemistry from the
University of South Carolina.
Her research focuses on
predic琀椀ve life琀椀me models for
material degrada琀椀on using
spectroscopic characteriza琀椀on.
Dr. Paul W. Leu is
Professor of Industrial
Engineering at the
University of
Pi琀琀sburgh. He leads
the LAMP lab, using
modeling and
experiments to study
nanomaterials and
surface proper琀椀es.

Dr. John Kitchin is a
Chemical Engineering
Professor at Carnegie
Mellon with a courtesy
appointment in Materials
Science and Engineering.
His research centers on
catalysis, density
func琀椀onal theory, and
machine learning for
material modeling.
Dear MDS-Rely members and guests,
Welcome to our MDS-Rely Spring mee琀椀ng. We are
thrilled to have you here and look forward to a
vibrant gathering filled with research presenta琀椀ons,
global perspec琀椀ves, and opportuni琀椀es to connect
and collaborate.
We're excited to have Dr. Li Luan, Global
Technology Director or Digital R&D and Corporate
Color at PPG as our invited keynote speaker. Dr.
Luan's presenta琀椀on, "Amplifying Human Genius:
How Data Intelligence is Supercharging R&D," will
cover a wide array of material that has enabled
PPG to become a leader in the field of developing
new materials.
As we approach the end of our fi昀琀h year of
MDS-Rely, we are thrilled to discuss the strategic
goals for the center and explore poten琀椀al areas for
collabora琀椀on. We believe that by combining
exper琀椀se and resources, we can significantly
accelerate research and development efforts,
leading to groundbreaking discoveries and so昀琀ware
applica琀椀ons.
Thank you for being part of the MDS-Rely
community.
Sincerely,
Laura Bruckman, Paul Leu, and John Kitchin
