LitDB
LitDB is an open-source Python tool for
building and searching a personal literature
database. It allows users to collect scien琀椀fic
papers and store them locally in a database.
Once collected, literature can be searched
using seman琀椀c and text-based queries,
including natural-language queries
supported by GPT-style interfaces.
Addi琀椀onal features include expor琀椀ng
BibTeX cita琀椀ons, filtering new papers since a
given date, and extrac琀椀ng structured data
from documents.
Dr. John Kitchin is a Chemical
Engineering Professor at Carnegie
Mellon with a courtesy appointment in
Materials Science and Engineering. He
completed his Ph.D. in chemical
engineering and his M.S. in materials
science at the University of Delaware
a昀琀er receiving B,S, in chemistry at
North Carolina State University. His
research centers on catalysis, density
func琀椀onal theory, and machine
learning for material modeling. He was
also the 2023 recipient of the AlChE
Award for Innova琀椀on in Chemical
Engineering Educa琀椀on.
